Community Manager
Hello. My name is Sarah and I am KB’s new Community Manager.
KB has been a major part of my life for over 15 years, in fact I have been present in one form or another from the very beginning. I have watched as KB has evolved from a small martial arts class running a couple of times a week in a school sports hall, to an organisation that has classes running across the UK, and indeed as far away as South Africa. I am proud that I have been party to that journey, often to have been found elbow deep in tea bags at events, molding countless amounts of gum guards at competitions, and even dressed as a giant panda in the local Christmas parade.
Being party to the whole journey of KB, has made me realise how important community is. We wouldn’t be where we are now without the support of our students and their families, and it is always wonderful to see so many new students joining. Some of our current young instructors, were the students I used to stand and watch at competitions, when there was a brief pause in the demand for coffees and slices of chocolate cake! They have grown up with KB, as have their families, and I can see with my own eyes the positive effect this community has had on them. I am so proud that these people instructing children today, have learnt so many of their skills and developed their ethics and values through their KB journey.
We have always valued our community of students and their families, but with the last few years having been so unpredictable, now is the time we really need to show you all how much we value you. My new role within KB is as Community Manager, and that means that the most important thing I will be doing is communicating with everyone involved with KB. That includes students and their families, instructors and everyone else in local communities who support us – bringing us all together so that everyone knows just what is happening with KB, and what we are achieving both locally and further afield.
